LAA350 RFP
Tin’s lecture RFP – Space, Functions, and Program. Essentially, LAA350 focuses on the early-stage concept phase, moving from initial idea to massing study. This lecture extends beyond that scope, addressing the next phase: breaking down the massing study of a single program (P) into smaller, defined functions (F) and spatial components (R). This step is crucial for bridging the gap between early-stage conceptual design and late-stage construction documentation. The workshop was not held due to scheduling conflicts.
LAA350 - Concept
Tin will hold the lecture Concept, and conduct a workshop specifically addressing: 1. context, 2. problem, 3. overarching idea, and how these components inform the 4. spatial guidelines of a project. As always, there are no absolute right or wrong answers in design or urban proposals; rather, some ideas may prove more compelling depending on the context or the perspective of a given jury.
LAA350 - Analysis
Tin will for the second time hold the lecture, “From-analysis-to-concept”, emphasizing the importance of connecting the two. This may sound contradictory in a field with wicked problems or no right-or-wrong-answers, yet it is crucial for coherency for any concept or deliverables. Another motive for holding this lecture, is to separate the different parts of the planning process, taught in EIE310, LAA350, and APL350.
LAA350 - Diagram
The “Diagram” lecture and workshop in LAA350 is being held for the third time, offering students from both graphical and non-graphical disciplines the opportunity to develop their ability to draw, communicate, and persuade with clarity. The session is divided into three components: a lecture, an assignment, and a pin-up review. Within spatial planning, a key competence lies in articulating abstract concepts that enhance and illuminate tangible plans and drawings.
LAA350 - Oppgaveforståelse lecture
Tin will deliver the lecture “Oppgaveforståelse” for the third time in the LAA350 course—his first chance to share insights on the early stages of public procurement in major urban projects. The lecture highlights his extensive experience from plan and design competitions, including several recognised entries from 2017–2023.
LAA350 Commences
Tin joins the course LAA350 – Projects in Urban Development for the third time, together with course coordinator Anja Standal. The class of 2025 consists of 75 students working in interdisciplinary groups, with the city of Kongsvinger as their case. The course emphasizes the study of structures, massing, and the qualities of in-between spaces.
PhD Alumnus Presentation
Tin held a riveting PhD presentation, for the “fresh-off-the-boat” research fellows at LANDSAM, NMBU. For this, he was awarded two sandwiches. Turns out, all alumni of LANDSAM got free sandwiches… The cuprit behind all of this, was Josie Teurlings AKA Josie the betrayer. Fool me once shame on you, fool me with twice the sandwiches than what the rest is getting, lucky me.
GLA304 - Diagram
Tin held the lecture/workshop Diagram at GLA304, a lecture to encourage students to draw, convey and convince beyond their usual landscape training. A big part of spatial planning is also about conveying abstract ideas to supplement the concrete sections/plans.
MAST302 - Diagram
Tin held the lecture/workshop Diagram at “MAST302 Planning the Master Thesis - Landscape Architecture”. This workshop focuses mainly on the difference of conducting a written thesis or a design project - which brings with it different types of diagrams.
SITRAP SoMe Waves
The widespread promotion SITRAP - Centre for Integrated and Transdisciplinary Teaching in Planning at NMBU. Elin Børrud - the leader of the centre set the bar of atleast reaching 1000 participants for the survey. In total, we managed to reach 824! It is in itself outlandish to ask for 1000 participants, and Tin does not view this as defeat.
SITRAP Employee March-June
Tin has been employed at SITRAP - Centre for Integrated and Transdisciplinary Teaching in Planning at NMBU. The main goal of this employment is to promote SITRAP’s 2025 survey is to map competence and learning within Norway’s spatial planning field. The aim is to better understand who works with planning under the Planning and Building Act, their educational backgrounds, and how they learn through practice.
PhD Tribunal
Tin got a mail from the NMBU admin about a mandatory meeting. The agenda was: an update whether if the PhD is on track or not, due the expiration of his contract/bankrolling 25th of February. His supervisor Knut Boge, pointed out that this was a “make-it-or-beak-it” meeting, whether if he could continue or not.
TfMK - Diagram
Tin held the lecture/workshop Diagram at “TfMK Tverrfaglig Masterklasse”. The session encourages participants to draw, communicate, and persuade beyond the conventions of writing. The workshop supports TfMK’s interdisciplinary framework, where students work on individual master's theses.
