LAA350 Commences

Tin joins the course LAA350 – Projects in Urban Development for the third time, together with course coordinator Anja Standal. The class of 2025 consists of 75 students working in interdisciplinary groups, with the city of Kongsvinger as their case. The course emphasizes the study of structures, massing, and the qualities of in-between spaces.

The course will combine lectures, workshops, site visits, and group work. Project assignments are interdisciplinary, bringing together students from landscape architecture (LA), city and regional planning (BYREG), real estate (EIE), and property development (EUTV). Tin’s contribution to the course will emphasize the societal dimension and the competitive edge of the proposals. Supervision will be offered through desk crits, supplemented by four “Tin.uno” certified lectures:

  • 18.09 Task understanding (oppgaveforståelse) - the rules of game or procuring/acquiring larger urban projects through strict criteria surrounding tenders, applications and deliveries.

  • XX.XX Commercial analysis - principals or conceptual commercial understanding, as opposed to fully fledged calculations and estimations.

  • 02.10 Diagram - how the use of simple drawings convey ideas, concepts, societies, architecture.

  • 10.10 Concept - how to conceptualise abstract and concrete design- and plan projects. This lecture focuses on drawings, strategies and production flow.

  • 31.10 RFP (room and functions program) - how to manage/distribute programs/functions towards a concept.

On this happy day, Tin would remark how innocent they all looked… until the day of the Pizza Moreno incident that would lead to an investigation that would haunt him.

The course LAA350 - Projects in Urban Planning is a 20 ECTS course, focusing on the urban development of the city centre in the medium-sized city Sarpsborg. The course encourages studies of structures, massing and in-between spaces. LAA350 was conceived and previously led by professor Elin Børrud, before her departure this year. The teaching staff consist of Anja Standal, the new course responsible (BYREG), Mads Juel Engh (LA), and Tin Phan (EIEJUSS)
