LAA350 Commences
Tin returns to the teaching staff of LAA350 – Projects in Urban Development for the 2026 semester, alongside course responsible Anja Standal. This year, the total of 64 students will work with Fornebu, exploring one of Norway’s largest and most ambitious urban development areas through interdisciplinary project work. The course continues the teaching model developed over previous years, combining lectures, workshops, site visits, study trips, supervision and group work.
The project work brings together students from landscape architecture, city and regional planning, property and property development. Rather than treating urban development primarily as a design exercise, the course examines the relationship between urban structure, massing, public and in-between spaces, development processes and implementation.
Fornebu provides a particularly relevant laboratory for this approach. The former airport has undergone several decades of transformation into a new urban district, combining major workplaces, housing, infrastructure, landscape and large-scale development projects. For the students, the task is to understand the existing conditions and development logic of Fornebu before translating their analysis into concepts, spatial strategies and proposals for its continued development. Tin’s contribution focuses particularly on connecting analysis, concept development and implementation. His teaching follows the progression from understanding the task and its institutional setting, through analysis and conceptualisation. The emphasis is not simply on producing a “fancy” final plan, but on establishing a coherent argument between the problem identified, the overarching idea. This develops the approach used in the previous LAA350 courses, where his teaching covered task understanding, analysis, diagramming, concept development and programming.
The 2026 course also continues a longer lineage. LAA350 was originally conceived and led by Professor Elin Børrud, before Anja Standal assumed responsibility for the course. Since joining the teaching staff in 2023, Tin has contributed to developing the course's interdisciplinary and project-oriented format together with Anja.

LAA350 – Projects in Urban Development.
Laa350 is a 20 ECTS interdisciplinary project course at NMBU. The course studies urban development through structures, massing and the spaces between buildings, while bringing together perspectives from planning, landscape architecture, property and property development. Teaching combines lectures, workshops, site visits, supervision and interdisciplinary group work.For 2026, Fornebu forms the common case area. The students investigate the district through analysis before developing concepts and spatial proposals that respond to its existing qualities, challenges and future development potential.
